The Canal Saint-Martin will become pedestrian

The Canal Saint-Martin is one of Parisians' favourite place to hang out with friends or for a nice and calm walk next to the water. A few days ago were held the municipal elections across France. The previous mayor, Anne Hidalgo, has been reelected by Parisians. One of her campaign promises was to change the Canal Saint-Martin area and make it pedestrian between the République place and Stalingrad. As of this summer, you'll start seeing some changes around the Canal Saint-Martin. Some roads will be closed to cars and some streets will become completely pedestrian.

Take a walk along the Canal Saint-Martin

Start the walk at the Place de la République. Take the small street rue du Faubourg du Temple until you reach the canal on your left. Then you're in for a chill 2 kilometres walk along the canal. If you feel hungry, you can stop by at the Street Bangkok street food restaurant. Order to take out and go eat your Thaï street food and the canal banks in the square Eugène-Varlin. Then walk until you've reached the end of the canal next to the Point Ephémère where you should definitely stop to have a drink. For the most courageous of you, you can continue the Parisian water walk onto the Canal de l'Ourcq up until the Villette Park.

Local tip: if you're walking with friends, stop by any supermarket on the way and go buy some beers. Then just find a spot on the banks and enjoy the evening outside with your friends!
